What is Cubic Zirconia Gems?\n\n

\n

Zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) is the cubic crystalline form of cubic zirconia (CZ). The synthesized material is hard and colourless, but may be dyed a variety of colours.\n\n

\n

A low-cost, durable, and visually similar material to diamond, synthetic cubic zirconia has remained since 1976 the most significant gemmological and economic competitor for diamonds.\n\n

Grades of Cubic Zirconia\n\n

\n

Cubic zirconia\'s qualities are often compared to diamonds and other gemstones based on the Four Cs (colour, clarity, cut, and carat weight). However, their grading is performed differently:\n\n

\n

v  Despite the fact that CZ\'s manufacturers come in a wide range of quality, some are less desirable than others. Clarity is one feature that may differ for different manufacturers.\n\n

\n

v  Cubic zirconia is categorized into five grades, from A (lowest grade) to AAAAA (highest grade). However, most retail jewellery stores (online or off) do not use the grades; they\'re typically seen when purchasing wholesale zirconia.\n\n

CZs aren\'t as durable as diamonds, sapphires, or rubies, so they are more likely to scratch over time. If you cannot afford a diamond or other durable gem, for the occasion to set with a CZ could be a good alternative. Cubic zirconia is beautifully crafted into necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings, and other jewellery not worn on a regular basis\n\n

How to take care of Cubic Zirconia Jewellery\n\n

You may use an ultrasonic jewellery cleaner to clean cubic zirconia, but consider the setting materials before you drop it in the tank and turn it on. Using dishwashing detergent and a very soft brush may be all that\'s needed to remove film from the green CZ and restore its fire. If the CZ was made of silver or plated metal, try a less aggressive method to clean it. For all jewellery, it is important to store cubic zirconia jewellery separately from gemstones based on their Mohs hardness rating. This allows the stones to avoid scratching each other.
